Biotechnology Technician (BIO)
33 Semester Credit Hrs / 990 Clock hrs 5-hour days = 42 weeks Prerequisites: None
DESCRIPTION: Biotechnology technician students perform experiments and assays, manufacture products and assist with research using a variety of technical skills and prepare graduates for a wide variety of occupations in bio technology field. Graduates find employment with large biohealth and biotech companies.
OBJECTIVES: The large increase in new fast rising bio tech industry can prepare the graduate for testing procedures, product manufacturing, material processing, monitoring and record keeping Clinical Trails, equipment maintenance, inventory control, inspection techniques and use of standards for quality assurance, collection and evaluation of data, and assisting with research. Technicians also observe and document safe practices, communicate and document information, and assist in complying with government FDA regulations.
CAREERS: The purpose of this program is to provide the student with the theory and hands-on experience necessary for an entry-level position as Biotechnology Technician.
